FoxValley 20/50 for squirrels older than 4 weeks.
(for younger squirrels, use FoxValley 32/40).
Due to issues with import documents, many Fox Valley milk powders are currently difficult to source in Europe. We do not know how long this will last, but please expect it to take several months. As a result, many rescue centres, breeders and private individuals are looking for an alternative to Fox Valley milk.
A combination of 200 grams of Beaphar Rodent Milk + 100 grams of NutriCol produces a milk powder that closely resembles squirrel milk.
This milk powder from Fox Valley Animal Nutrition is made for squirrels 4 weeks or older, but can also be used for other animal species with similar needs.
Containing 20% protein, 50% fat and low lactose, this milk powder is specifically designed for squirrels.
The milk contains only vegetable fats. This makes the milk easier to digest and squirrels suffer less from intestinal problems and diarrhoea.
Fox Valley is still a relatively unknown brand in Europe, but the milk is widely used in America for raising young animals.
The composition of the mother's milk changes with the age of the young. Therefore, for squirrels younger than 3 weeks, we recommend giving FoxValley 32/40 and gradually switching to FoxValley 20/50.
450 grams of milk powder becomes about 1.5 liquid milk, if you mix it in a ratio of 2:3. (2 parts powder with 3 parts water).
The milk has a shelf life of 18 months after production if kept cool (room temperature) and dark.
The best-before date is shown on the packaging. Even after opening the packaging, it will keep until that date.
Also keep in the freezer, it will keep for much longer.
