Rehydration from Arts Food Products is an elektrolyte mix ORS that helps prevent dehydration. Dehydration can occur quickly when neonate animals didn't receive mothers milk for several hours. Also when an animal has diarea, or has vomited a lot, much body fluids are lost and should be supplemented.
This elektrolyte powder is developed especially to counter dehydration and to bring back a normal level of body fluids. The different sugars and salts in Rehydration make sure the water is absorbed in the body. The intestines need sugars and salts to be able to absorb moisture into the body.
Rehydration elektrolyte mix is suited for young animals, as well as adults.
An other great thing about ORS fluids, is that it can be used on a baby animal in the first 12 to 24 hours after it has been rescued. It not only prevents dehydration, but helps the young animal to learn how to suckle from an artificial teat. When milk is aspirated, it can cause pneumonia, because milk components are sticky and can not be caughed up. Aspiration of ORS is also not good for the lungs, but gives less risk of pneumonia than milk.
So when you feed Rehydration ORS in the first 12-24 hours it helps the baby learn how to suckle on a rubber nipple, with less risk of pneumonia.

The salts and sugars in Rehydration are also a part of the normal diet of your animal. Normal usage won't give any side effects.
This product can cause troubles with animals who have severe kidney problems. Contact your vet if your animal has kidney problems before giving it ORS.
Also contact your vet if your animal has diarrea together with blood and/or slime and a fever.
