New model TLC 40 Advance and TLC 50 Advance cannot be used together with a humidity pump. The old models can be used with a humidity pump.
Many young mammals and birds (including parrots and birds of prey) are blind and helpless when they are born. And for the first few weeks they cannot walk around on their own, regulate their body temperature or feed themselves.
During this period, it is very important to house the young animals in a clean rearing cage. The temperature must be optimal, without large fluctuations. It is also important that the air is sufficiently clean and that there are no dust and mould spores in the air. As the young animal grows bigger and develops feathers and hair, the ambient temperature can be lowered slowly. And with the Brinsea TLC the carer can lower the temperature in the rearing cage easily and very gradually.
The glass door in the incubator ensures that the young animal can remain in contact with its carer. Especially for pets and young birds such as parrots and birds of prey, it is important that they get used to contact with people so that they will later become tame.
The smaller TLC-40 with a capacity of 40 litres,
and its big brother TLC-50 with a capacity of 100 litres.
The difference between an Advance and an Eco is that the Advance has extra settings, such as humidity, lighting and an alarm function.
With the Eco you can easily set the temperature and read it digitally on the display.
The Advance also displays the humidity in addition to the temperature. The Advance has LED lighting that you can turn on or off, and an alarm in case of an electrical interruption.
NOTE: The new version of the Advance cannot be connected to a humidity pump.
The Zoologic has the most features, and a build-in humidifier. So you won't need an external humidity pump.
Good hygiene is very important for young birds and mammals. The TLC-40 and TLC-50 are specially designed to be as hygienic as possible. The bottom and the door are completely removable, so you can clean them well. The top is also easy to clean, as it is made of smooth ABS plastic. The security grid of the fan is easy to remove, so that you can also clean the fan. The heating element is encased in metal, so that it is easy to clean.

The air circulation in the TLC-40 and TLC-50 incubators has been precisely determined to ensure that there is good heat distribution in the incubator. The air temperature is the same for all chicks or youngsters in the incubator, yet the air circulation is so calm that no drafts or swirling dust can occur.
A slight overpressure is created in the incubator, so that no unfiltered air can enter from outside. The system with a slight upper pressure is often used in isolation rooms in hospitals to prevent the spread of germs. The positive pressure ensures that new air is continuously blown into the incubator through the 2-step air filter. The air can get out again through the edges of the door and the adjustable ventilation holes.
The Brinsea TLC incubators have a 2-step electrostatic filter that removes dust, spores and bacteria. All filters are washable and can be replaced by a new set. These filters can be ordered on request.
The warm air can cause the young animals to dry out. That is why all TLC incubators have a water tank. When the air passes the water tank, the humidity in the incubator increases. The water can be refilled from the outside. The reservoir is transparent, so you can easily see how much water is left in it. In the water reservoir there is a white block that makes it easier for the water to evaporate. Place the white cube in an upright position. Replacement cubes can be ordered on request.
If you want to determine and set the humidity very accurately, there is the Brinsea TLC Zoologica. Those incubators have a build-in humidifier.
The Brincea TLC incubators are lightweight and easy to carry or move around.
The TLC-40 weighs 6.7 kg and the TLC-50 8.7 kg.

The Eco provides control and read-out of temperature and in the case of the TLC-40 and 50 models high and low temperature alarms.
The TLC-40 and 50 Advance digital controls also include a display of humidity, variable fan speed and an internal light.
The TLC-40 and 50 Zoologica also incorporate a humidity pump for fully automatic control of humidity.

It is recommended to change the air filters every 6 months.
Set of two large internal ceiling filters, one small external air inlet filter and one humidity evaporation block.
This woven paper evaporation block is placed in the water tank of the TLC-40 or TLC-50 incubators and allows higher humidity levels to be achieved by increasing the evaporation surface.
The double electrostatic filter system of the TLC-40 and TLC-50 removes dust, bacteria and mould from the air. For better performance, the filters and evaporator block should be disinfected/replaced after each brood.
