Thermal/Cooling blanket with Thermo-Reflection technology for the whelping box

Newborn puppies and kittens cannot yet regulate their body temperature on their own and therefore cool down quickly. This innovative, double-sided blanket is specially designed for use in the whelping box or birthing crate and supports safe thermoregulation during the first weeks of life.

How the Thermoswitch blanket works:

• Warm side (reflective): a heat-reflective layer reflects body warmth back to the animal and reduces heat loss to the environment. Ideal for the critical first days of life.
• Cool side (heat-repellent): provides thermal shielding so the lying surface does not overheat and instead feels pleasantly cool during warmer conditions or for older animals.

The Thermo-Reflection approach is inspired by aerospace applications (such as thermal rescue blankets) and has been further developed for safe use with pets.

Why in the whelping box?

• Supports puppies and kittens in maintaining a stable body temperature.
• Helps prevent hypothermia without electricity or heating mats.
• Very soft and comfortable (plush/imitation rabbit fur on the warm side) for a sense of security.
• Breathable and water-repellent for a hygienic resting area.

Practical features

Usage tips

1. In the first days, place the reflective (warm) side facing up and put the young animals directly on it.
2. You may also place the blanket over the animals – with the reflective warm side facing them.
3. Check the body temperature regularly (target values depending on species/age) and switch the side if needed.
4. In warm weather or for older animals: turn to the cool side to avoid overheating.
5. Wash and dry completely between uses; do not use fabric softener (may reduce effectiveness).

Sizes:

• M (70 × 100 cm): for kittens and puppies of small to medium breeds (e.g. Jack Russell, Beagle, Münsterländer).
• L (100 × 140 cm): for puppies of larger breeds (e.g. Ridgeback, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd).
